Prenatal massage — Marta C., Elizabeth NJ

Why it matters

Pregnancy changes the body within a few months: weight goes up, the center of gravity shifts, hormones loosen the ligaments and the body holds more fluid. That brings very common discomforts: back and hip pain, swollen heavy legs, fatigue and trouble sleeping.

All of them raise the mother’s stress, and long-lasting stress can affect her health. Caring for the mother’s emotional wellbeing is also caring for the pregnancy.

How we adapt the technique: from a certain point you do not lie face down, nor on your back for long; we work mostly side-lying, with pillows supporting your belly, back and legs. Pressure is gentle and enveloping, and we avoid deep pressure on the legs.

What a session looks like

  1. 01AssessmentWeek of pregnancy, main discomforts and confirmation that it is a low-risk pregnancy approved by your doctor.
  2. 02PositioningWe settle you side-lying with pillows so you are comfortable and safe.
  3. 03Adapted massageBack, lower back, hips, shoulders, neck, legs and feet, depending on what bothers you most that day.
  4. 04No rushAt the end, time to get up slowly.

When it’s best to wait

There are times when it is better to postpone a session or get your doctor’s approval first. It is not a “no” forever: it is taking good care of you. We go over all of this together at your first assessment.

Not sure about your case?

Message us before booking. We listen, review your history and, if needed, wait together for your doctor’s approval.

Ask on WhatsApp
  • High-risk pregnancy

If your doctor has advised rest or special monitoring, massage waits until they approve it.

  • Bleeding or early contractions

If you notice either sign, call your doctor. This is not the moment for massage.

  • High blood pressure or preeclampsia

These need medical control. If your pressure is controlled and you are cleared, we adapt the session.

  • Placenta problems

Placenta previa or other complications require your doctor’s explicit approval.

  • Thrombosis, fever or infection

The risk of clots is higher during pregnancy. If one leg is swollen and painful, check first.

  • First trimester

Starting from the second trimester is usual. If you would like to start earlier, we discuss it with your doctor.
