Post-surgery recovery — Marta C., Elizabeth NJ

What happens in your body after surgery

Every surgery is a controlled injury to the tissues. In the following days and weeks you get inflammation, retained fluid (edema), bruising and sometimes areas that harden as they heal. It is the body’s normal response, but how it is supported strongly affects the final result.

Post-op care has three goals: clear the fluid, keep tissues soft while they heal and help the skin adapt to its new shape.

The three pillars: garment, drainage and patience

The garment compresses and stops more fluid from building up; lymphatic drainage helps clear what is already there. They complement each other: see compression garment and drainage after surgery.

The third pillar is time. Every body heals at its own pace, and full recovery takes weeks. Consistency makes the difference.

When to start and how many sessions

Always when your surgeon approves it. Starting in the first days or weeks is common, with sessions closer together at first and further apart as swelling goes down. Details in lymphatic drainage after lipo or a BBL.

In our post-surgical care every session is adapted to your stage: very gentle at first, focused on drainage; later, manual techniques to soften tissue and refine the contour.

Fibrosis: better prevented than treated

Fibrosis means firm areas, lumps or unevenness that appear when tissue over-heals. It is one of the complications that most affects liposuction results. Keeping tissues soft from the start is the best prevention. More in fibrosis after liposuction.

And once recovery is over

When your surgeon clears you for more active work, Molding 5 in 1 can help you maintain your shape, work on fluid retention and release the stress built up during recovery.

Choosing who to trust with your recovery

Post-op experience, an assessment before starting, coordination with your surgeon and honesty about results. The key questions are in how to choose a spa in Elizabeth for your recovery.

Frequently asked questions

All frequently asked questions →
Can I get lymphatic drainage if I still have surgical drains?

It depends on your surgeon. If they approve, only the allowed areas are worked, very carefully.

Does drainage replace the compression garment?

No. They do different jobs and complement each other. Always follow your surgeon’s instructions on the garment.

Which signs mean I should call my surgeon?

Fever; redness, heat or pus at the incision; worsening pain; pain or swelling in one calf; shortness of breath.

Do you see clients who had surgery outside New Jersey?

Yes. Many clients have surgery in other states or abroad and recover with us in Elizabeth, always following their surgeon’s instructions.
