Post-surgical care — Marta C., Elizabeth NJ

Why it matters after surgery

Every surgery is a controlled injury to the tissues. Afterwards the body responds with inflammation and edema (fluid gathering in the operated area), bruising and sometimes fibrosis: as it heals inside, tissue can harden into firm areas, lumps or irregularities under the skin. It is one of the complications that most affects the aesthetic result, after liposuction for example. Adhesions that limit movement can also form.

Good post-operative care helps the fluid clear, keeps the tissues soft and lets the skin adapt well to its new shape.

Lymphatic drainage is the foundation of this service: very gentle movements help remove the fluid and reduce swelling. Depending on your stage of recovery, we combine it with manual techniques to keep tissues soft, help prevent fibrosis and improve circulation. The intensity always adapts to how you are healing.

Marta C.’s founder is trained as a nursing assistant as well as in aesthetics. That is why our protocols are careful and always follow your surgeon’s instructions. It is one of the services our clients in New Jersey value most.

What results to expect

Relief from swelling and pain usually shows in the first sessions. Full recovery takes time and every body heals at its own pace; several sessions over the weeks after surgery are typical. If you are planning surgery, message us beforehand and we will plan your schedule together.

Surgeries it pairs with

  • Liposuction and lipo-sculpting.
  • Brazilian butt lift (BBL).
  • Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty).
  • Other cosmetic body surgeries, always as your surgeon advises.

When it’s best to wait

There are times when it is better to postpone a session or get your doctor’s approval first. It is not a “no” forever: it is taking good care of you. We go over all of this together at your first assessment.

Not sure about your case?

Message us before booking. We listen, review your history and, if needed, wait together for your doctor’s approval.

Ask on WhatsApp
  • Without your surgeon’s approval

We always start when your surgeon says so. Message us before surgery and we will plan the schedule.

  • Drains or wounds without guidance

If you still have drains or open stitches, we follow your surgeon’s guidance on which areas can be touched.

  • Fever or feeling unwell

It may be a sign of infection. Your surgeon comes first.

Warning signs: call your surgeon

  • Fever.
  • Redness, heat or pus at the incision.
  • Severe pain that gets worse instead of better.
  • Pain or swelling in one calf.
  • Shortness of breath.

If you notice any of these signs, stop sessions and contact your surgeon or go to the emergency room.
