Postpartum massage — Marta C., Elizabeth NJ

Why it matters

Physically, after nine months of change the body has to settle back. Retained fluid and swelling are common, as are back, neck and shoulder pain from breastfeeding, carrying the baby and sleeping little.

Emotionally, fatigue, lack of sleep and the sudden hormonal shift affect your mood. Many mothers feel exhausted, sad or overwhelmed in the first weeks.

And the wound: whether from a C-section or a vaginal birth with stitches, it needs to heal well. A poorly cared-for scar can stay hard, tight, stuck to the tissue underneath or uncomfortable for a long time.

How it works

  1. 01Physical recoveryMassage and drainage to clear retained fluid, reduce swelling and release tension in the back, neck and shoulders.
  2. 02Emotional wellbeingA quiet space to rest and be cared for, so you can relax and recharge.
  3. 03Scar careOnce the wound is closed and your doctor approves, we work the area so the scar stays soft, flexible and free of adhesions.

Benefits

  • A faster, more comfortable physical recovery.
  • Less swelling and fluid retention.
  • Relief for back, neck and shoulder pain.
  • Better rest and mood.
  • A scar that heals better, softer and with less discomfort.

What results to expect

Relief and relaxation from the first session. Body recovery and scar improvement are progressive and take several sessions. Feeling sad or sensitive in the first weeks is common; if the sadness is intense, lasts more than two weeks or you feel you cannot cope, talk to your doctor: it may be postpartum depression, and it can be treated.

It is for you if…

  • You are in the weeks or months after giving birth.
  • You had a vaginal birth or a C-section.
  • Your doctor has cleared the treatment.
  • You are breastfeeding: we adapt the position.
Your safety first

When it’s best to wait

There are times when it is better to postpone a session or get your doctor’s approval first. It is not a “no” forever: it is taking good care of you. We go over all of this together at your first assessment.

Not sure about your case?

Message us before booking. We listen, review your history and, if needed, wait together for your doctor’s approval.

Ask on WhatsApp
  • The wound has not closed yet

Scar work starts once the wound is fully closed. Meanwhile, we care for the rest of your body.

  • Signs of infection at the wound

Redness, heat, discharge or pain that gets worse: see your doctor first.

  • Fever or heavy bleeding

These call for an immediate medical check after birth.

  • Thrombosis or a suspected clot

The risk of clots is higher in the weeks after birth. A swollen, painful leg gets checked first.

  • Birth complications

If there were complications, we wait for your doctor’s approval to start.
