Back pain from work: when therapeutic massage helps

On your feet all day, lifting or at a screen: why your back hurts and what you can do.

In Elizabeth and nearby, many people work in warehouses, cleaning, construction, caregiving, restaurants or offices. Very different jobs with one thing in common: they end up taking a toll on the back, neck and shoulders.

Why it hurts

  • Sustained postures: hours standing, sitting or leaning forward.
  • Repetitive movements: lifting, pushing, always turning the same way.
  • Stress: emotional tension builds up in the neck, jaw and shoulders.
  • Little rest and little movement outside work.

Over time, knots and trigger points appear: tight spots in the muscle that hurt to the touch and sometimes send pain elsewhere, such as the head.

When massage helps

Therapeutic massage goes after the cause: it finds the overloaded areas, works them with adapted pressure and gives you at-home guidance. For very specific knots, trigger point therapy releases them with sustained pressure. And if you also want to switch off, the custom massage combines both with relaxing strokes.

Small changes that help

  • Change position every 30 to 45 minutes, even for a minute.
  • When lifting, bend your knees and keep the load close.
  • If you work at a screen, raise it to eye level.
  • Stretch gently after work: chest, neck and hips.

When to see a doctor first

  • Strong pain after a fall or a hit.
  • Tingling, weakness or pain running down a leg.
  • Pain that does not ease with rest or wakes you at night.
  • Fever or unexplained weight loss.

As one client wrote on Trustpilot, sometimes we get used to living with pain. It does not have to be that way.
